Our group uses tools from theoretical Soft Matter Physics to investigate the mechanics of living systems, from elementary cellular components to whole organisms. In particular, we seek to characterize the ways in which these self-driven, complex systems differ from usual materials. These concrete examples allow us to understand how the cell takes advantage of its internal structure and activity to adapt to its environment.
